Guide to Crystal Mountain

Looking for some fun things to do near Thompsonville? Crystal Mountain Resort in Michigan is home to some great ski slopes, but it also has some excellent uses for year-round activities. Alpine Slide

While Crystal Mountain is one of the top-rated ski lodges in Michigan, there are plenty of summer activities to enjoy. One of which is the Crystal Coaster Alpine Slide, a 1,700-foot curved track that features dips, high-bank turns and some great views.

Crystal Mountain's alpine slide costs $20 for those over 52 inches while children under 52 inches are free. Other summer activities include an outdoor pool and water playground; chairlift rides; hiking and biking; outdoor laser tag; and archery, among others.

Winter Activities

Skiing and snowboarding are the biggest winter activity to do at Crystal Mountain. The resort is home to 16 beginner runs, 27 intermediate runs, and 15 advanced runs, making it a perfect location for some Michigan skiing. There are also eight ski lifts to get you to the top of your run. Crystal Mountain is also home to some great cross-country ski trails as well as some opportunities for fat tire biking.

Other winter activities include snowshoeing, ice skating, snowmobiling and horse-drawn surrey rides. Ski seasons fluctuate depending on the year but Crystal Mountain usually opens for skiing anytime from November to December and can close between April and May.

Golfing

Crystal Mountain golf is a unique experience. The resort is home to 36 holes spread across two courses, making it one of the top-rated golf resorts in northern Michigan.

Mountain Ridge is set in the pines of northern Michigan, while Betsie Valley offers a challenge for golfers. The resort is also home to a practice and learning center that can help you improve your skills. Those interested will need to book a tee time via the resort's website.

Places to Eat

Crystal Mountain is home to some of the best restaurants near Thompsonville. The Thistle Pub and Grille offers an ever-changing menu of fine dining options while the Wild Tomato is a great place for the family. In the mood for some pizza?

Stop on by Betsie River Pizza & Subs for pizza, breadsticks, deli-style subs, wings and salads. Looking for a bar? Crystal Mountain has the Bru Bar, which features drinks from coffee to alcoholic options. The Level Four Rooftop Bar is a summer-exclusive option that offers entertainment and cocktails.

Crystal Mountain Spa

Need some time to relax and rejuvenate? The Crystal Mountain Spa is a great place to renew your mind and body.

The spa is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. through 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Crystal Mountain's spa offers skin care, massage, body and nails services as well as several packages. Skin care, body and massage services start at $95 while nail services start at $50.
